Review : Breakfast & Beer

117 Vincent Street
Daylesford, Victoria

Sun-Mon & Thurs 9am-10pm;
Fri-Sat 9am-1am

On our final morning in Daylesford we decided to head to Breakfast & Beer for our final Victorian meal.

It was a very sad day indeed for Buggles & Squeak, we needed a good, hearty breakfast in order to board the flight back to Sydney & the real world....Breakfast & Beer delivered.

Breakfast & Beer doesn't tend to offer the standard fare for breakfast, we like a cafe/restaurant that uses some imagination when it comes to the morning meal.

Buggles was drawn to the Pacton Cumberland sausages with pickled cucumber, fried egg, rocket & toast...oh & a hash brown on the side.
The sausages were plump, meaty, peppery & free of gristle, the accompanying house made tomato sauce was delicious. The egg was cooked well & the hash brown while quite tasty, was just too thin & even though crispy on the outside it didn't have a soft potato centre. Buggles did enjoy her breakfast very much.

I ordered Buttered Asparagus (sans toast) with cauliflower tapenade, parmesan & herbs....I replaced the toast with a hash brown and added bacon.
The buttered aparagus was beautifully cooked with lots of parmesan sprinkled on top. The cauliflower tapenade was smooth & silky and the bacon super crispy...just how I like it. A really, really good breakfast.

Breakfast & Beer has an extensive range of local & imported beers which are available for breakfast, lunch & dinner. The night before I told Buggles I was determined to have a beer with my breakfast....alas I couldn't follow through.

This is a great spot for breakfast (lunch & dinner also I'm sure) and we will be sure to return to it.....and Daylesford!
